It’s official now, Trump has been re-elected president. President Trump is only the second US president to achieve this (the last being in the late 1800’s) which makes it even more amazing.
I would have voted Trump (I live in Australia) over Hillary Clinton anyday. Same with Biden. But I have to say after that comment about the Haitian’s eating dogs or pets at the last Presidential debate, I had my doubts about Trump this time. Not that I disagree with his politics but even saying that made me think maybe he’s a bit over the hill too. But let’s put it in perspective:
- Trump campaigned his ass off from not long after he lost the 2020 election. For a man of Trumps age, what he did is actually quite inspiring.
- Biden basically did nothing to get re-elected in this time. By the time he finally ceeded the responsibility to Harris he’d basically done nothing more than hand Harris a live grenade.
- Harris caught the grenade, but one would think common sense would have said get out there and do more publicity. The rallies and touring Trump did, did not seem to be countered in any way what so ever by Harris.
- Trump virtually became a superhero when he survived that assassination attempt. The Democrats should have seen this and rallied harder to combat this effect.
THE VIEW FROM AUSTRALIA
As an Australian I can look at this with a bit less emotion than my American friends. After all I don’t live there. But I’m glad Trump won. It’s about time someone stood up for the little guy, the guy who’s working three jobs just to barely pay the rent on a 1 bedroom apartment. If I was American I’d be quite offended by Oprah or Taylor Swift telling me what to think and how to vote. Monetary policy doesn’t affect celebrities in the same way it affects the average Joe. The Democrats disconnection with the average person leaves me absolutely stunned. I’m also a little offended that the Democrats even thought they could win when they approached the election in such a half-arsed fashion. Do they think the American public is stupid? Harris really just attacked Trump (though both sides were guilty of this), offered no real solutions and dodged every question thrown at her in the presidential debate.
